What we do with your details when you get in touch. Last updated 16 September 2026.
Shakeshaft Jones Home Improvements is a family-run painting, decorating and property maintenance business in Middlewich, Cheshire. If you message us about a job you give us a few details. This page says what happens to them, without the legal waffle.
Who is responsible for your details
Shakeshaft-Jones Ltd, trading as Shakeshaft Jones Home Improvements, is the data controller for the information described here. That means we decide what gets collected and what happens to it. Get hold of us on 07930 743 540 (Mike), 07977 570 407 (Helen), or by email at shakeshaft.jonesltd@gmail.com.
What the contact form collects, and why
The form on our contact page asks for your name, a phone number, an email address if you want to give one, and whatever you write in the message box about the job.
We use it to reply to you, work out what the job involves and give you a price. Nothing else. We do not sell your details, we do not pass them to anyone for marketing, and we will not sign you up to a newsletter.
Our lawful basis is legitimate interests while you are enquiring, because answering someone who has asked us to quote is the expected thing to do with what they send. Once you book work in it becomes performance of a contract with you.
Where your message goes
When you press send, the form is handled by Netlify, the company that hosts this website. They pass it on to us by email, and keep a copy of the submission in our account with them. Our email runs on Gmail, so Google holds it too. If you WhatsApp us instead, the message goes through WhatsApp under Meta's own terms.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that never turn into work are kept for about 12 months and then deleted. Customers often come back the following year and it helps to have the history. If we do the work, we keep the job record for six years, because that is how long tax and insurance records need to be held.
Ask us to delete your details sooner and we will, unless the law says we have to keep them.
Who else sees it
- Netlify, who host the website and handle form submissions. They also keep ordinary server logs, including your IP address, to keep the site up and secure.
- Google, because our email is on Gmail.
- Meta, if you choose to message us on WhatsApp, Facebook or Instagram.
- SH Studios Digital Ltd, the web company that built this site and looks after it for us. They act only on our instructions, as our processor, and may see form submissions while keeping the form working.
That is the full list. Nobody else gets your details.
Cookies and what the site loads
We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. We do not count visitors, follow you around or build a profile of you, so there is no cookie banner to click through.
The site does load a few things from other companies, and they will see your IP address when they are fetched. They are: fonts from Google Fonts, and the icons and animation code from the Cloudflare and jsDelivr code libraries.
Our availability page also shows our diary through an embedded Google Calendar. Google may set its own cookies when that loads. Every other page on the site works without it.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you and give you a copy
- put right anything that is wrong
- delete it
- stop using it, or limit what we do with it
Ring either of us, or email shakeshaft.jonesltd@gmail.com, and we will sort it, normally within a month. There is no charge.
If you are not happy
Come to us first and we will do our best to put it right. If you are still not happy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this page
If we change how we handle your details we will update this page and the date at the top. This version is from 16 September 2026.
